Simultaneous Inversion of Layered Velocity and Density Profiles Using Direct Waveform Inversion (DWI): 1D Case

چکیده
To better interpret the subsurface structures and characterize reservoir, a depth model quantifying P-wave velocity together with additional rock’s physical parameters such as density, S-wave velocity, anisotropy is always preferred by geologists engineers. Tradeoffs among different can bring extra challenges to seismic inversion process. In this study, we propose test Direct Waveform Inversion (DWI) scheme simultaneously invert for 1D layered density profiles, using reflection waveforms recorded on surface. The data includes primary reflections interbed multiples. DWI implemented in time-space domain then followed wavefield extrapolation downward continue source receiver. By explicitly enforcing causality, recursively determine structure local layer-by-layer fashion both sharp interfaces properties of layers, from shallow deep depths. layer stripping methods frequency domain. not requiring global initial model, also avoids many nonlinear optimization problems, minima or need an accurate most waveform schemes. Two numerical tests show validity serving new strategy multi-parameter inversion.

متن کاملSimultaneous inversion of the background velocity and the perturbation in full-waveform inversion
The gradient of standard full-waveform inversion (FWI) attempts to map the residuals in the data to perturbations in the model. Such perturbations may include smooth background updates from the transmission components and high wavenumber updates from the reflection components. However, if we fix the reflection components using imaging, the gradient of what is referred to as reflected-waveform i...

Waveform (output least squares) inversion of seismic reflection data can reconstruct remarkably detailed models of subsurface structure, and take into account essentially any physics of seismic wave propagation that can be modeled. متن کاملSimultaneous Linearized Inversion of Velocity and Density Profiles for Multidimensional Acoustic Media
The multidimensional inverse scattering problem for an acoustic medium is considered within the homogeneous background Born approximation. The medium is probed by wide-band plane wave sources, and the scattered field is observed along straight-line receiver arrays. The objective is to reconstruct simultaneously the velocity and density profiles of the medium. The time traces observed at the rec...
متن کاملDirect inversion of velocity interfaces
Seismic tomography traditionally inverts for velocity field on a regularly spaced and fixed-in-space model grid. Such an approach is not able to adequately describe pinchouts or wedge-shaped velocities as commonly seen at basin boundaries, faulted rock beds, and back-arc mantle wedges. A regularly spaced model grid also requires the use of a large number of model variables. This paper shows a d...
